The Voyage
Ho’onalu: go with the flow…
If the swell is up, go surf.
If the wind is blowing, go kiting.
If we need fresh fish for dinner, go fishing.
It began as a plan to seek out uncrowded waves in warm places- sail to surf and live the dream. But it didn’t take long to learn that the voyaging lifestyle has more to offer than just empty lineups. Living in rhythm with the ocean- traveling by the wind and planning by the tide, time slows down and the days develop a natural flow. If the swell is up, go surf. If the wind is blowing, go kiting. If we need fresh fish for dinner, go fishing. The ocean truly provides everything we need to be happy and healthy.
10 years afloat, and the purpose of our voyage has evolved beyond simply chasing surf in the remote tropics. Nearly every coastline and reef we explore shows evidence of human impact. A passion to protect where we play has motivated us to seek out opportunities to contribute to ocean health conservation projects and research. And a desire to share the experience with friends, old and new, led us to open our floating home and create Ho’onalu Voyaging Co-op; a community of ocean-minded individuals seeking ways to adventure consciously.
