Ho’onalu Voyaging co-op was created to help support and contribute to ocean health advocacy and studies in remote regions where intact ecosystems still exist. We are gathering together surfers, kiters, spearfishers, sailors, free divers, scuba divers, sea gypsies, pirates, reef conservationists, shark advocates, families, and friends who truly appreciate the ocean and get so much from it that they feel compelled to give back.  Co-op membership fees help keep Wild Thing afloat and equipped for extended off-grid voyaging so members and ocean research teams can immerse themselves in wild places to pursue adventure, science, sport, spirit, culture, and community.

Member perks include:

  • access to the detailed voyage calendar-  see who will be onboard, and contact us to reserve a cabin.

  • access to our live boat tracker- see where we are Now

  • reduced daily boat fee and/or barter in exchange for daily boat fee

Crew Responsibilities

When joining a Ho’onalu Voyage, you are part of the crew and life onboard is a participatory experience.

  • Share your skills and passions; we all have something to contribute to the community (music, recipes, artwork, anything!)

  • Learn the ropes while sailing, and take your turn at night watch on a passage

  • Contribute to the family meal effort by taking turns cooking and cleaning up

  • Be supportive of each other in the water, on the boat, and all throughout our voyage together

  • Help keep shared living areas tidy and your cabin clean

  • Assist with boat repairs or projects if needed
